Book Review: Colleen Hoovers "All Your Perfects"

Hey y'all I'm back from my drought and ready to write again!

Im trying something new here on the blog and thought I'd give you guys my unprofessional-professional opinion on a book I just finished! I know, shocker, I actually managed to get through an entire novel! Seriously am I the only one who finds sticking to books and actually finishing them the most surmountable task? Anyway, recently with my graduating of high school, I've found myself with a lot more free time than I would like, and so have decided to reconnect with my younger selfs favourite hobby; reading. I've completed Hoovers viral series: "It starts with us" and "It ends with us" and really enjoyed the romcom with a little spice kind of format so decided to venture out to her other novels!

Hoover's style is one that I find to be very easy to navigate and I would definitely recommend this kind of novel to people who enjoy light reading, and aren't too keen on really sophisticated storylines and small font style novels! My eyes cannot focus on that size 8 font for the life of me so I find Hoovers books to be the just-right kind of size.

The novels blurb alludes to a "Then vs Now" kind of layout, one that I think worked excellent for this kind of novel. It opens by introducing us to the protagonist, Quinn and her two love interests, Ethan and Graham. I loved the opening chapter and it was one of those "I'll just read 1 more page" kind of chapters! It had me wanting to find out which direction Quinn would follow! The main plot-line follows Quinns struggle with infertility, her failing marriage and her "un-denying love" for her husband Graham. I feel that Hoover explored very real concepts that are sort of stigmatised in society and I like that she didn't shy away from the brutal reality of these concepts. In saying that I would warn younger readers [14 and under] not to read this novel as it does include scenes that may be slightly too graphic for younger minds.

Hoover goes in depth about the reality of an aging marriage and the work that true love takes to be sustained. I love her style of writing, in such detail as though you can literally picture yourself in the event, like a fly-on-the-wall description. As the novel progresses, Hoover offers the solution to Quinns problems, and begins to conclude the story in the way she knows best; love. The story resolves in a happy ending [of course] and leaves a nice little cliff-hanger to visualise the rest of Quinn and Grahams life together.

I seriously haven't read anything this quick in my life [315 pages in 2 days to be exact!] and am super excited to continue on with the rest of her novels! I would highly recommend this novel to anyone who loves a slow-ish burn and a nice happy ending [I'm looking at you softies..]
